How Long Did It Take To Do The Job?

I Want my Outboards Back!

We get calls for all kinds of uses for our real-time GPS vehicle tracking system other than for just fleet tracking, such as teen tracking, asset tracking, and theft recovery. An interesting call came in the other day from a boat dealer that had just had a $100,000 boat with twin outboard motors stolen. It seems that the thieves are primarily interested in the motors. They steal the boat, take it to a hidden location, remove the motors, and then dump the boat hull on the side of the road or set it adrift in the water.

GPS vehicle tracking is about more than just location. In many cases, time is more important than location when tracking vehicles or assets. Take idling for instance. It is more critical to know how long a vehicle is idling rather than where it is doing the idling. But, whether time or location is important, the data that the two provide in a combined manner is invaluable.

How do I get there... and where am I?

I had a GPS Tracking customer tell me the other day how our real-time vehicle tracking system helped one of their dispatchers get a driver back on track. The guy was filling in for the regular driver and wasn’t familiar with the area on the route. At some point in the day, the supervisor saw that the driver was falling behind on his deliveries. After calling the driver and asking some probing questions, he admitted he had gotten lost and went all the way across the county by mistake. He finally asked, "How do I get there?" The supervisor quickly put the features of our gps vehicle tracking system to use.
