Installing Plug & Play Trackers
Our OBD2 GPS Trackers are a fan favorite because they are so easy to use. In our OBD2 GPS Tracker Installation guide, we explain what the OBD-II diagnostic port looks like and where to find it in your vehicle.
Battery Powered Tracker Installation
The battery powered gps tracker installation guide will cover installation instructions for our battery powered trackers. Our satellite data trackers uses the same instructions. The biggest concern with these tracking devices is positioning the device so it has a good line of sight to the sky. Generally, these are low reporting devices and for best success, you want to pay attention to positioning these GPS trackers.
Installing a basic GPS Car Tracker
In many ways, installation of a car or truck tracker is similar to installing a car radio. In other words, it is a 3-wire hookup: ground, power and ignition. There are some concerns about where to place the wired GPS tracker. We'll cover where to put the gps tracker in this wired installation guide. It does get a bit more complicated when you start to consider PTO/Auxiliary input.
Data Plans
Monthly service gives your team access to the website and iOS/Android Apps. It also covers data service for the tracking device.
- 2-minute reporting – Exact details will vary with each device, but generally, when the tracking device detects ignition, the device will report every two minutes at a minimum. Turn by turn option will increase the actual reporting frequency. When the ignition is off, most devices will report hourly.
- 5 minute reporting and 15 minute reporting – These rate plans are great with the equipment trackers as they support calculation of uptime/runtime, useful for maintenance.
- Twice a day – This is the suggested data plan for our battery powered trackers: either our regular cell network or satellite network trackers.
