Vehicle Tracking Installation Guides

Step by Step Install Instructions for all Device types

We want our customers to be successful so we've put together general installation guides for our different families of tracking devices (OBD-II, wired trackers, battery powered trackers) and specific guides for each of our products.   These guides will help you understand where to position your tracking device for consistent reporting to our servers, the LED lights on the devices and details specific to the type of device.

In general, all tracking devices need an unobscured line of sight to the sky for the GPS receivers to pick up transmissions from the GPS satellite network.  They can be hidden, but not under metal surfaces.  The metal will block the GPS Satellite signals.  Wired devices can generally be installed under a vehicle's dashboard, but not under the radio.

Externally mounted devices often can be mounted with screws or adhesives and more details are provided in the battery powered installation guide.

Installing 3-Wire Wired GPS Trackers

Installing Wired GPS Trackers

Installing a wired GPS Tracker doesn't have to be difficult.  We've compiled an easy to follow Installation Guide for Hardwired GPS Trackers.  This guide explains the 3-wire (ground, power and ignition) and where to place the tracker for best results.  Good placement of the GPS trackers is important factor in their operation.

Installing Battery Powered Trackers

Our Installation Guide for Battery Powered Trackers will offer up placement and installation advice for our various GPS Battery Powered Trackers.  This guide also applies for our solar powered GPS trackers and our trackers that transmit location data over the satellite networks.  Like all trackers, good mounting positions are critical to the device being able to consistently report its location.
